I've seen firsthand how policy shapes communities, and I believe no vote is wasted and no voice is too small.

Primaries & Early Voting

Minnesota makes it easy to vote before Election Day. Here's what you need to know for the August 11, 2026 primary.

How the primary works: Minnesota is an open primary state, you don't have to declare a party to vote. But on your ballot, you'll need to pick candidates from just one party in partisan races.‍ ‍

Three ways to vote:

By mail Request an absentee ballot at mnvotes.gov/absentee. Mailed ballots must be received by your local election office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, a postmark alone isn't enough, so request and return yours early.
Early, in person Starting June 26, 2026 (46 days before the primary), you can vote absentee in person at your county election office: fill out an application, get your ballot, and vote right there. New this year: "Early Voting" locations open starting July 24, 2026 (18 days out), where voting works just like Election Day: you get a ballot and feed it directly into the tabulator yourself.
On Election Day - Tuesday, August 11 Vote at your regular polling place. Polls are open until 8 p.m., and anyone already in line by 8 p.m. can still vote.

You can register to vote the same day you show up, if you're not already registered.
Track your absentee/mail ballot anytime at mnvotes.gov/trackmyballot.
Find your polling place or early voting location at mnvotes.gov/pollfinder.

Note: the November 3, 2026 general election will have its own early-voting windows opening roughly 46 and 18 days ahead of that date — check mnvotes.gov closer to the fall for exact dates.

There are many ways you can register to vote. I recommend registering early to make voting as easy and convenient as possible for you.
